We power decision-making of both our merchants and internally with the data we collect, process and interpret. We are a diverse team of data engineers, data analysts and data scientists.

Our data products, data pipelines and data warehouse are used by 100's of thousands of merchants and millions of their customers. Our data teams are typically quite small so there's a lot of opportunity to have an immediate impact.

On the data platform side, we are building a near-realtime data ingestion system and a near-realtime data warehouse. For our computational layer, we rely on Spark and our YARN cluster. We primarily write code in Python and Scala.

On the data science side, we are developing recommendations to make merchants more productive. For example, we give marketing recommendations to tell a merchant where / when / how she should run a marketing campaign. Tools we typically use are Python, PySpark, TensorFlow, Python Notebooks and Python machine-learning libraries such as Pandas, Scikit-learn, NLTK, Numpy and Scipy.

On the data analyst side, we provide actionable insights to our business users. We tell them pro-actively what's happening in the business, why things are changing by running A/B experiments and we help them to make better decisions. We are big users of Presto, Mode Analytics and Python.
